REV. LUTHER BARNES

Stellar Award-winning Reverend Luther Barnes has established himself as one of most consistent creators of deeply felt, high quality gospel music rooted in tradition. Raised in the church as the son of Bishop F.C. Barnes, composer of the gospel standard ”Rough Side of the Mountain,” Rev. Barnes felt early on that there was no reason why gospel music shouldn’t have the same high compositional and production standards as the greatest popular music. He began his gospel music ministry by founding the Grammy-winning “quartet” vocal group Luther Barnes & The Sunset Jubilaires as lead vocalist, composer, director and producer, scoring such hits as “I’m Still Holding On,”“That Other Shore” and others. He also formed the Red Budd Gospel Choir and scored gospel radio hits with “So Satisfied,” and “I Can’t Make It Without You”, leading to winning a Stellar Award, a Vision Award and a GMWA Excellence Award. Moving on to a new ministry he formed the Restoration Worship Center Choir and scored a Top 10 gospel hit with “The Favor of God”. Producer of over 28 albums, he has recorded with such greats as Shirley Caesar, Kirk Franklin, The Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir, John P. Kee, and The Mighty Clouds of Joy always maintaining the highest standard of the true essence of gospel.

Barnes has emerged as today’s most important representative of traditional-flavored gospel music.
