LADYSMITH BLACK MAMBAZO

Grammy-winning South African vocal group Ladysmith Black Mambazo has taken a capella Zulu “mbube” vocals to audiences all around the world in it’s five decades of performing history. First introduced to American audiences by album releases on Shanachie Entertainment, then recruited by Paul Simon to be part of his classic “Graceland” album, Ladysmith’s unique harmony sound and choregraphed dance movements have been key parts of the world music explosion. Their music has been used in everything from a 7-Up commercial to Sesame Street while they appeared in Michael Jackson’s “The Moon Is Walking” video and Eddie Murphy’s “Coming To America” feature film. They accompanied Nelson Mandela to accept the Nobel Prize for peace and a documentary film about the group won an Academy Award. Truly Ladysmith Black Mambazo.
