BRIAN SIMPSON
Producer/composer/pianist Brian Simpson first made his mark behind the scenes, writing the #1 hit “The First Time” for R&B group Surface, touring as keyboardist for Janet Jackson, Teena Marie, and Sheena Easton and serving as musical director for such contemporary jazz icons as George Duke Stanley Clarke, Dave Koz, and Kirk Whalum. He’s a first-call musical director for major music festivals and special events as well. But he stepped out of the shadows in style, scoring a #1 radio hit with “It’s All Good” off his debut album in 2005. There followed a string of Top 10 smooth jazz radio hits, thanks to Simpson’s uncanny knack for delivering irresistible melodies over infectious grooves fusing R&B and jazz. Eschewing gimmicks, Brian Simpson is a great example of a musical artist who succeeds via sheer musical quality.
