Shanachie has long been one of the premiere contemporary Jazz labels in the business, with scores of Number 1 Hits and a stellar lineup of Contemporary Jazz greats such as Euge Groove, Kim Waters, Michael Franks and many others. In 2010, Shanachie released Transatlantic RPM, from seminal Acid Jazz group Incognito, marking a pronounced foray into the Acid Jazz world. Since that time, Shanachie has gone on to release another Incognito record, Surreal (2012). But this year, Acid Jazz has taken a front and center role in Shanachie's constantly evolving tapestry of genres.
To kick things off, Shanachie released Incognito frontman Jean-Paul "Bluey" Maunick's first solo album, Leap Of Faith on March 26. Famous for his collaborations with such greats as Chaka Khan, Stevie Wonder, George Benson and others, and of course for his legendary work with Incognito, Bluey has produced what is being hailed as some of the very finest work of his illustrious career.

Next on the Horizon comes The Brand New Heavies, another of the early "Founding Fathers" of the Acid Jazz movement in the UK. BNH will release Forward, their first studio album since 2006, on May 21. Featuring the unique talents of original BNH vocalist N'Dea Davenport and Dawn Joseph, and of course their signature infectious grooves pulsating throughout, Forward is sure to please old and new fans alike.

Rounding out this dynamic line-up is Omar, a talent admired and sought after by the likes of Stevie Wonder, Erykah Badu, Angie Stone, Estelle, and Common. Omar will release The Man, his 7th studio effort, on June 18. Dubbed "The Godfather of UK Soul", Omar has a sound and style all his own, and creative grooves and melodies that make him a rare and distinctive talent and a delight to listen to.

The Flobots are back in action! After releasing the acclaimed The Circle In The Square last August, the Denver based hip-hop/rock act is back for another round of dates, with 30 shows running from May through mid-June and ranging from Coast to Coast. Joining them on this highly anticipated nationwide tour are Wheelchair Sports Camp, who like Flobots are passionate activists for a wide variety of social and humanitarian concerns, and who share Flobots' extreme popularity on the Denver music scene. Longtime Smooth Jazz star Brian Simpson released his fifth studio album, Just What You Need, on Tuesday, April 23. The Brand New Heavies
Seminal Soul outfit The Brand New Heavies are set to release their first studio album in six years, the highly anticipated Forward, on May 21, 2013. After a flurry of excitement and activity to start off 2013, Shanachie Entertainment is gearing up for an equally exciting second quarter, with some great new signings and upcoming releases. The latest additions to the Shanachie roster:
Jennifer Holliday:
The "original Dreamgirl" will return with her first secular album in 19 years. A powerhouse vocalist whose "And I'm Telling You Not Going" is a classic hit, Jennifer's new recordings are done with all live musicians, including on some tracks, full orchestration. The album, entitled Love Me By Name, is a mixture of jazz, cabaret and R & B standards done in Jennifer's inimitable style.
Sandra St. Victor:
Longtime lead singer of cult favorite soul/rock band The Family Stand, Sandra St. Victor has sung with everyone from Chaka Khan to Prince to Lou Reed. Her new album—her first solo work in over a decade—is an impressive mix of R & B, neo-soul, jazz and African music (due out in September).

Marking the 30th anniversary of the founding of seminal smooth jazz group Special EFX, which integrated world music elements in a groove jazz context and scored numerous radio hits over the years. Guitarist Minucci brings his passionate soloing to a diverse set of contemporary jazz.

MAYSA: Blue Velvet Soul
On both her solo albums and as frequent vocalist with Incognito, Maysa has brought her uniquely beautiful vocal sound to a stellar set of recordings over the past twenty years, drawing on both R & B and jazz. Blue Velvet Soul is yet another gorgeous showcase for her soulful singing.
OMAR: The Man
Often called "The Godfather Of UK Soul", Omar (also a new Shanachie signing) possesses a unique artistry that has made fans of such artists as Stevie Wonder, Erykah Badu, Common, Angie Stone and more, all of whom have guested on his past albums. UK Acid Jazz outfit The Brand New Heavies is set to release Forward, their latest studio effort, on May 6 in the UK and on May 21 in the US. Forward is the first studio release from the Brand New Heavies since Get Used To It in 2006, and features the vocal talents of longtime Heavies vocalist N'Dea Davenport, as well as up and coming talent Dawn Joseph. They will be performing a run of dates in Europe this Spring in promotion of Forward, and are planning a US tour for this Summer. Widely regarded as the pioneers of the Acid Jazz movement, The Brand New Heavies carry an infectious energy and appeal that has stood the test of time and continues to make them one of the world's premier acts. After months of anticipation, Crystal Bowersox's sophomore studio effort, All That For This, was released Tuesday, March 26, 2013 and catapulted onto Billboard’s Top 200 Albums Chart, landing in the top half at #71. The Brand New Heavies, who were a founding group of the "acid jazz" movement, return with a brand new album, "Forward", set for May 7th release by Shanachie Entertainment! N'Dea Davenport returns to sing vocals on the single "Sunshine" as well as other tracks on the album. Every now and again in an industry that is saturated with over hyped –here today and gone tomorrow talent- an artist comes along who truly embodies a unique sound and vision. Crystal Bowersox is that artist. The small town Ohio born singer/songwriter and guitarist whose early performances began in coffeehouses and later Chicago’s underground subway circuit, was catapulted to stardom when she captured the hearts of millions as a finalist on Season 9 of American Idol. Earning a slot as the season’s runner up, Crystal Bowersox’s gentle strength, quiet wisdom, immense emotional depth and angelic voice made a connection with the show’s viewers and indeed her debut album outsold that year’s Idol winner. With a confidence and rich soulfulness well beyond her years, Crystal made a lasting impression. In early 2013 Shanachie Entertainment will release Crystal Bowersox’s label debut. As the summer winds down, the heat is still very much on at Shanachie Entertainment with a variety of stellar new releases keeping things hot with Fall around the corner.

Veteran R&B crooners, Mint Condition, just premiered their brand new music video for “Believe in Us.” The soulful love song will be featured on the group’s upcoming 8th studio album, Music @ The Speed of Life. “We love all our music babies but it's unanimous, we all feel Music @ the Speed of Life is our best since Definition of a Band. It's fresh and modern, musically challenging and always a nod to the past,” the guys told AOL’s The Boombox.
Fans can also get a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the “Believe in Us” video, which was shot in Atlanta, GA by director Greg “G. Visuals” Williams.
